Recommended listenables for your taringas…

Ethereal yet tough doom from Italy. One of my favorite albums ever

https://martheband.bandcamp.com/album/sisters-of-darkness

==================================

Mesmerising 90s influenced punk alt. Awesome harmonies, good amount of drone but with a dusting of fuck off pop:

==========================================

Unholy Smokers from Malaysia.  don’t-give-a-fuck grind reefer madness

=========================================

One of my favourite dbeat crust bands.  Their second release packed with bangers and epics in equal portions

=========================================

The latest release from my favourite NZ band, Wizz Kids!

=========================================

Fuzzed out distorted snotty punk from Finland

=========================================

Rungas radicalness at its best.

=========================================

Political, melodic yet heavy, Grey Places hit multiple targets for great sound-making.

========================================

Been years since I listened to this band.  Ruling.  Reliving my late teen years yih!

========================================

Wizz Kids rule.  That’s all.

========================================

Nervous Trend from Oz.  Have listened to it ever since I got it:

========================================

Wimps!  Jittery groove infused punk

========================================

Makes you sad about the state of the music industry with its over-production and soulless music when there are people like Roger Ridley who have and do exist with such overwhelming talent and realness playing all their musical life on the sidewalk for spare change:

========================================

Sometimes, when a band is so politically profiled, their music becomes secondary.  Pussy Riot epitomise the revolutionary philosophy of punk that drew me to it as more than a music genre but as a way to think and live.  But I’d also like to recognise Pussy Riot for writing rad songs.  This song is catchy and bad ass:

========================================

Playin with this sweet band at Such Is Life in Goongerah, Oz, March 2013.  Lovin the guitar layers in these songs.

========================================

Radkeys fuckin ruling!

========================================

Sick song, sick vid

========================================

Big ups to Bo Diddley, but particularly Lady Bo shreddin the gat, and the rungas babes – bringin the party!

========================================

Goddamn Howlin’ Wolf brings it.

========================================

Catchy, snotty punk punk rock.  Booyah!

========================================

This has been at the top of the Pantaloon charts for the last couple of weeks.  Catchy, jangly, bendy guitar, and tripped out awesome melodies.  Free download too!  Get yoself some Brain Traps.

========================================

GCs PCP Eagles playin in Dunedin.  Every time a party time.

========================================

One of my fav bands eva.  This video starts off with notorious members of Dead Moon and Poison Idea, amongst others, givin them props.  The Wipers!!

========================================

Ridiculously good rapper, Shadia Mansour rocks!  This song featuring M1 from Dead Prez.  Tumeke.

========================================

Dunedin dudes makin’ rad tunes.  Playing around the North Island this week.  Check it!

========================================

Rap yr rapturous sitchy ears round this!  Hot off the press.

========================================

========================================

One of the best punk songs written in recent history.  These dudes are rungas good times live

=========================================

This song is unbelievably good

==========================================

As those of you who know me may be aware, I love my French punx sounds.  Here’s Pizza OD.

==========================================

Harking back to my childhood a bit here, but man, this video rules, doesn’t it?  Some hi-tech shit for 1985.  Margaret Urlich rules.  There, I said it.

==========================================

I am ashamed to admit that I only found out about Death earlier this year.  They bring together so many elements of music that hit the spot for me.  Psych rock, punk, rock n roll, r&b.  Will hopefully get to see A Band Called Death – the documentary about Death – at the International Film Festival next week.

==========================================

New Zealand band Bloodbags bringing the heavy rock n rolls

==========================================

This is bloody cute and awesome

==========================================

Hi-NRG, lo-fi punk n roll.

==========================================

This song has all the elements that make you go “Fuck yeah, mean!” – fuzzed out bass, all the damn fine mid-paced drum fills that you need, and a perpetual notch-knocking segment that brings you all the way over the top of the hill, right back to the groovin place that you started.

==========================================

There’s something in here that appeals to that 90’s sonic side of myself.  Granted a couple of questionable covers, but I had fun listening to it, pottering hard out in my room

==========================================

White Mandingo is a new band featuring Darryl Jennifer from Bad Brains.  So good:

==========================================

I love the Quin Tikis!

==========================================

Great rhythm and rhyme.  Preach!

==========================================

This reminds me of my 90’s teen-hood, ala Sebadoh, th’ Youth…

==========================================

I wish Sharkbait were still around so I could go see them play in their home base, Sydney, Oz.  These songs are AMAZING!  Pop, melodic punk with shredding solos.  Pop sensibilities up the wazoo.

==========================================

This has been on high rotation here at Pantaloon for the last two weeks.  Some Groovie Ghoulies-esque catchy punk n roll tunes.

===========================================

One of my favourite bands eva.  Aggressive, melodic punk, well-crafted songs, mean harmonies, sweet riffage.

===========================================

I’m not sure if it was the sleep-deprivation, hungoverness, or the unrivaled awe of this band, but the first time I saw them, I cried.  Uncontrollably.  Shame.  They are amazing.

============================================

A No Hope For The Kids album was a welcome find on our Shortlived European tour.  Still one of my favourite albums.

=============================================

A top-notch NZ 7″ split from two of the best punk song-writing bands in NZ.  Included is a cover of Gripper’s “Beer Fridge”

==============================================

“I-can’t-put-my-finger-on-it” appeal.  Nestled somewhere in between electronic 80s melodic pop and punk disturbia

==============================================

Youth Avoiders are one of my fave bands at the moment.  Jittery, sing-along, clean-tone ruckus vibes:

==============================================

Fuzzed-out rockin tunes:

==============================================

Fuzzy buzzy horror-core bedroom racket:
